WILMINGTON, DEL – The Bloomfield College men's soccer team captured their first victory of 2022 on Saturday when they edged out Goldey-Beacom College, 2-1. The win was also the Bears first in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, moving them to 1-0 in league matches and 1-2-1 overall.
Oscar Hernandez (Madrid, Spain) opened up the game's scoring with a header on a Bloomfield set-piece off of a free kick.
Adam Lynch (Dublin, Ireland) offered up a beautiful ball on the free kick from the right side of the field and earned the assist in the 5
th minute of play. Marvin Munoz (Neptune, NJ) drove in what proved to be the game-deciding goal at the 35:33 minute-mark of the first half.
Junior keeper,
Jomar Vizcaino (New Bruinswick, NJ) recorded six stops on the day as the Lightning got back one goal in the 2
nd half. Vizcaino and the Bears defense shut the door on Goldey-Beacom (0-6, 0-1 CACC) and their hopes of coming back after the 63
rd minute score.
Bloomfield will look to continue their winning ways in their next CACC showdown on Wednesday, September 14 when Dominican University comes calling. The Chargers enter historic Foley Field for a 7:00 pm battle under the lights.
