BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Led by the first goal of the season from freshman
Vanessa Schobel (Siegan,Germany), Bloomfield College's women's soccer team earned a, 4-0 victory over Lincoln University Thursday morning at Foley Field.
Joining Schobel with their first goals of the season are freshmen
Kayla Silva (Bloomfield, NJ) and freshman
Leigha Bradding-Butler (London, England). Senior O'vanna Mullings (Toronto, Ontario/) also netted her first goal of the season. Junior
Mia Phillip (Bridgewater, NJ) recorded 3 saves to earn her first win of the year.
In the opening minutes Bradding-Butler recorded her first goal as a Bear and moments later Silva would get one of her own assisted by sopohmore
Riley Reynolds (Delran, NJ). The score stayed 2-0 heading late into the first half when Schobel fired a shot, assisted by Silva, to score with 6 seconds left before intermission.
By the end of the game Bloomfield had taken 18 shots with 10 of them being on target. Over the course of the game the home team had also taken six corner kicks, five of them by Schobel.
With Thursdays victory the Bears (1-1-1) have won the last five meetings against the Lions (0-2).
Head Coach
Samuel Adjei and Bloomfield resume action on Saturday, September 10th when they travel to Wilmington, DEL to open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play against Goldey-Beacom. The league contest against the Lightning is set for a 1:00 p.m. first touch.
