BLOOMFIELD, NJ – A last-second three-point dagger from Dominican University left the Bloomfield College crowd stunned as the nationally ranked Chargers came away with a, 71-68 victory Tuesday night in The Den. The Bears fell to 8-7 overall and 4-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play while Dominican improved to 15-1 on the season and a perfect, 7-0 in league action.
A balanced Bears' offense saw six players score in double-figures for the first time this season led by
Wesley Robinson (Burlington, NJ) who notched his second-straight double-double performance. Robinson registered 13 points, to go along with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Josh Morris (Ewing, NJ) also netted 13 points which included going, 7-of-10 from the freethrow line. Starters
Tyrek Battle-Holley (Jersey City, NJ),
Andres Fulgencio (Englewood, NJ),
Izaiah Poole (Newark, NJ) as well as
Deavion Ellis (North Bergen, NJ) who came off the bench, recorded 10 points each.
Bloomfield out-rebounded the nation's 17
th ranked team, 54-42 but a Robinson turnover with twenty-eight seconds to play setup the Chargers last-second dagger from beyond the arc.
The Bears hit the road for their next CACC contest on Sunday, January 15 when they face-off with Jefferson University. The Rams roll out the red carpet in the City of Brotherly Love for a 4:00 pm scheduled tip-off at the Gallagher Center.
