BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears volleyball team thrilled fans in The Den to a, 3-1 victory over Goldey-Beacom College Saturday afternoon. Bloomfield took the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win at home to improve to, 3-10 overall and a 3-8 in league games. The Lightning fell to 0-11 in conference play and 0-14 overall.
The home team seized control on the opening set, 25-20 before the Lightning struck in Set 2 with a 26-24 win. The Bears settled in and clawed out the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-21 respectively.
Bloomfield enjoyed a balanced team effort to secure the conference decision as Amanda Arroyo excelled in every phase of the game. Arroyo recorded a career and game-high 14 kills along with 21 Assists, 14 digs, 2 blocks and a service ace. Esther Dogbe added 12 kills and 5 blocks for the Bears while Lauryn Hansford registered a game-high, 24 assists to go with 11 digs. Sophia Wintonick had a game-high, 18 digs.
Bloomfield will hit the road for their next two games as the struggle to keep their CACC playoff hopes alive. First up, a battle against The University of Bridgeport on Wednesday at 7:00pm and then a Tuesday, October 31 battle with Dominican University at 7:00 pm too.
