BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears women's soccer team pushed across two second half goals but it was not enough as they fell, 3-2 to Georgian Court University on Saturday. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match-up played on Foley Field saw Valentina Beltran and Marcela Banuelos score for Bloomfield however the setback left the home team with a 1-7 record overall and still searching for their first win in league play at 0-5.
The Lions (3-4-4, 2-0-3 CACC) held a 15-3 advantage in shots on goal for the game as they scored twice in the first half to put the Bears in a, 2-0 hole at the break. The visitors picked up a third goal in the 48th minute of play before the home team began to mount their rally.
Beltran's goal came off a pass from Jenna O'Reilly at the 55:15 minute-mark to get the squad on the board. Banuelos' scored her first goal of the season in the 61st minute and cut the Bears deficit to, 3-2. The Lions defense stiffened down the stretch as they held on the CACC victory.
Next up the Bears hit the road for another CACC contest on Wednesday when they square-off with Felician University. The Golden Falcons roll out the welcome mat for a 12:00 pm first-touch at Tyron Field.
