Women's Basketball Can't Get Past the Golden Falcons in CACC Opener, Suffer, 68-62 Setback in The Den

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play began for the women's basketball team Saturday afternoon and they suffered a, 68-62 setback against Felician University. Bloomfield shot only 28.6 percent from the field and fell to 1-5 overall on the season and 0-1 in CACC action. The Golden Falcons are a perfect, 2-0 in conference games and 2-5 overall after the win.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
    ·      Kayla Sykes scored a team and season-high, 21 points (7-18 FG, 6-14 3PT & 1-3 FT), 3 rebounds and 2 steals
    ·      Daniya Darby recorded a double-double with a game and season-high 15 rebounds to go along with 12 points (4-10 FG, 4-4 FT), 2 assists, 2 block and a steal
    ·      Anisha Able had 8 rebounds to go beside 6 points (3-11 FG) and a block2

KEY MOMENTS
    ·      Felician went a perfect, 6-for-6 from the freethrow line and took a 21-17 lead after one quarter of play. 
    ·      The Golden Falcons extended that margin by halftime to 39-26 after the Bloomfield offense went cold, shooting 21.1 percent (4-19 FG) in the 2nd quarter.  
    ·      Sykes buried a three-pointer out of the intermission break and the Bears began to claw their way back into the contest, getting as close as, 42-48 with two minutes to go in the third. The visitors pushed their lead back up to ten (53-43) by the end of the quarter.
    ·      Sykes answered with another three to open up the fourth quarter and Bloomfield rallied all the way back to tie the game at, 59-59 with 3:35 remaining after back-to-back threes from Sykes and Kamrin Babbs
    ·      Felician would convert a layup in their next possession and held off the rally the rest of the way to hold on for the conference victory. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
    ·      Babbs finished the game with 5 points on 2-of-8 shooting from the floor which included 1-of-4 from long range. She added 3 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block
    ·      The Bears leading scorer, Taneshia Tucker had 6 points (1-13 FG, 1-9 3PT, 3-4 FT) to go along with a game-high 9 assists and a steal 
    ·      Bloomfield made 22 buckets for the game as the visitors outshot them  42.1 percent (24-57 FG) and dominated on the glass, 54-42
 
WHAT'S NEXT
    ·      The Bears hit the road for a mid-week showdown with NCAA Div I opponent, FDU. The Wednesday night battle on December 6 is scheduled for a 7:00 PM tip-off at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center. Live stats and video links are available on our website schedule.
