WATERBURY, CONN – The women's basketball team's top scorer,
Taneshia Tucker, went for a career-high, 42 points on Saturday afternoon but it was not enough as Post University captured a, 92-76 victory. The Bears drop their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest of the year and moved to 1-9 overall after the setback. The Eagles improved to a perfect, 2-0 in conference games and 5-5 overall after the win.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
· Tucker scored a game, season and career-high, 42 points (14-21 FG, 6-7 3PT & 8-10 FT), 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and a steal
·
Daniya Darby recorded her 2nd double-double of the year with a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-3 FT) and 3 steals
KEY MOMENTS
· The Eagles soared from the opening tip with 15 straight points to put Bloomfield behind early, and extended to a, 30-13 lead after one quarter of play.
· Post shot 52.6 percent from the field (10-19 FG) in the first quarter which included 5-of-11 from three-point range. They went into the locker room up, 51-32 extended that margin by halftime to 39-26 after the Bloomfield offense went cold, shooting 21.1 percent (4-19 FG) in the 2
nd quarter.
· The Bears offense came alive in the third as they posted a 25-16 quarter to claw into their deficit but the Eagles bounced back, 25-19 in the fourth to secure the CACC win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
· Post enjoyed 33 points off of Bloomfield turnovers (30) and a, 30-16 edge in bench scoring.
· The Bears dominated with 34 points in the paint and held a slight, 42-38 advantage on the boards.
WHAT'S NEXT
· The Bears are on the road for their first test of 2024 when they travel to Dominican University. The Wednesday evening battle on January 3rd is scheduled for a 5:30 pm tip-off on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessey Center.
· The next home contest for Bloomfield will be Saturday, Jan 6 (1:00 p.m.) when they host another CACC foe in Goldey-Beacom College.
