GARDEN CITY, NY – The Bears volleyball team hit the road to start their 2023 campaign and dropped a, 3-0 non-conference match to Adelphi University. First year head coach, Jorge Rodriguez, saw his team fall to 0-1 to begin the year while the Panthers improved to 3-3 with the win.
The home team controlled the match from the onset, taking set one, 25-9 before Bloomfield battled back in set two but fell, 25-20. Adelphi closed out the match with a, 25-13 third set to complete the sweep. The Bears surrendered a, 49-21 advantage in kills and an, 8-1 advantage in services aces. The Panthers committed 12 services errors to just 3 from the visitors.
Sophomore, Nathaly Flores recorded a team-high, nine kills and thirteen digs. Lauryn Hansford also registered 13 digs to go along with her team-high 16 assists.
Bloomfield will be back in action on Wednesday, September 13th when they travel to Post University. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showdown is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start in Waterbury.
