Poor Shooting Plagues Bears Offense in, 67-50 Setback Against the Purple Knights

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears women's basketball fell to The University Bridgeport (UB) Wednesday evening, 67-50 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle at The Den. Bloomfield fell to 3-13 overall and 1-6 in conference play while the visiting Purple Knights improved their record to 4-11 and 3-2 in league action. 

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
    ·      Taneshia Tucker posted a team-high, 15 points (4-11 FG, 3-8 3PT, 4-4 FT), 3 steals and 2 assists
    ·      Daniya Darby chipped in 12 points (6-8 FG) to go along with 7 boards
    ·      Anisha Able snagged a team-high 8 rebounds with 2 points and a block
 
KEY MOMENTS
    ·      Bloomfield started with a 6-4 lead in the game but the offense went cold and Bridgeport capitalized with a 9-0 run to close out the opening quarter up 13-6. 
    ·      Tucker began the 2nd quarter with a three-pointer but the Purple Knights countered with a 12-3 spurt that put the home team on their heels. Both squads went scoreless across the next four-and-a-half minutes and the visitors closed out the half up, 25-15. 
    ·      The visitors grew their lead by as many as seventeen in the third but settled at 50-37 by the end of the frame. Bloomfield could not find any answers down the stretch and dropped the conference match.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
    ·      Tiara Mahorn came off the bench to contribute 9 points (2-8 FG, 1-5 3PT, 4-6 FT) in 28 minutes of action and grabbed 7 boards, all on the defensive glass
    ·      The Bears shot 29.1 percent for the game and only 22.7 percent from 3-pt range. Bloomfield's bench outscored the Purple Knights' reserves, 16-2
    ·      The visitors were strong on second chance points (23-5), points in the paint (30-12) and points off of turnovers (23-10) 
 
WHAT'S NEXT
    ·      The Bears then hit the road for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference battle with Georgian Court University on Saturday, Jan 20 (12:00 p.m.).
    ·      Bloomfield returns to The Den the following Saturday Jan 27 when they host Wilmington University at 1:00 p.m. and strive to raise Breast Cancer Awareness.
