BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The women's basketball team secured their second-straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win Saturday afternoon when they defeated, Wilmington University, 85-53. The Bears victory at home marked their highest scoring output of the season and improved their overall record to 5-14 and 3-7 in league match-ups.
The Wildcats, on the road committed 23 turnovers and fell to 1-17 overall on the season and still searching for a victory (0-8) in CACC play. The Bloomfield offensive attack was led by Taneshia Tucker who poured in a game-high 20 points (4-13 FG, 2-6 3PT) which included 10 points from the freethrow line. Tucker was aided by a double-double from both Daniya Darby and Anisha Able. Darby netted 19 points (8-13 FG, 3-6 FT) to go along with a team-high 14 rebounds while Able had a 10 point (5-10 FG) and 10 rebound afternoon in The Den.
Tiara Mahorn rounded out the home team's top scorers with 14 points (5-12 FG, 4-7 FT) as the Bears enjoyed a 20-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Despite having a 47-42 edge in rebounds for the contest, Bloomfield dominated, 38-20 in points in the paint and cashed in 25 points on the Wildcats 23 miscues.
Next up, the Bears hit the road for another important CACC battle when they face Felician University on Tuesday, February 6. The Golden Falcons welcome Bloomfield into JJJ Gymnasium for a 6:00 pm battle as the teams complete their season series.
