RUTHERFORD, NJ – The Bears women's basketball team suffered an, 80-75 defeat Tuesday evening in overtime against Felician University on the road. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) nail-biting loss dropped Bloomfield to 5-15 overall and 3-7 in league contests while the Golden Falcons improved to 8-13 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
Taneshia Tucker recorded a team-high, 24 points (5-18 FG, 3-10 3PT, 11-14 FT) and dished out 4 assists. Kamrin Babbs added 13 points (5-15 FG, 3-3 FT) including a jumper with three seconds left to play in regulation that put the Bears up 67-65. After a timeout, Felician countered with a bucket along the baseline that sent the game into overtime.
Erika Mercedes turned in 12 points (5-15 FG, 2-6 3PT) and 4 boards in her third consecutive start for Bloomfield. Daniya Darby led the team in rebounds as she came close to her 5thdouble-double, pulling down 9 boards to go with 10 points (4-9 FG, 2-3 FT).
The home team held a, 56-41 advantage on the glass and flexed a, 44-28 edge in points in the paint. The Bears only shot 27.3 percent in the extra period as Felician pulled out the come-from-behind win.
Next up, Bloomfield welcomes the 6th ranked team in the East Region when Jefferson comes to town on Saturday, Feb 10. The CACC showdown is set for a 1:00 pm tip in The Den.
