LAKEWOOD, NJ – The Bloomfield College of Montclair State University men's soccer team went on the road Saturday and fell, 6-1 to Georgian Court University (GCU) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The road-loss dropped the Bears to 1-6-2 overall and 0-5-2 in the CACC while the Lions improved their record to 7-4-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the league.
Christian Jhon Cruz scored the Bears lone goal of the afternoon and their first in four games. The team's leading scorer found the back of the net early in the third-minute of play off a touch from
Bernardo Gomes putting the visitors up 1-0. The Lions roared back to score six unanswered goals and take the CACC match-up.
Freshman,
Sander Meintjes got the start in goal and registered 11 saves against GCU as the home team enjoyed a 17-3 advantage in shots on target during the game.
Next on tap for Bloomfield will be another CACC showdown, this time at home against Wilmington University. The Saturday, October 19
th battle at Foley Field is set for a 2:00pm start.
