NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) women's basketball defeated Bloomfield College, 112-39 in a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon at the James Moore Fieldhouse. The Owls improved to an overall record of 7-0 while the Bears dropped to an overall record of 3-4.
SCSU broke their program record of most points scored in a single-game, with 112 points scored. They also recorded their seventh-straight victory of the season, and fourth game of the year holding a team under 50 points on the scoreboard.
Delaney Haines recorded a career-best and the fourth-most points scored in a single-game in SCSU program history with 36 points. Haines hit 56% from the floor, 8-for-15 from beyond the arc, 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, dished six assists and had a steal.
Katie Williamson recorded 19 points, shot 8-for-18 from the field, 3-for-3 from the free-throw line, grabbed six boards, had two blocks and a steal. With Williamsons' two blocks, she has 100 career blocks so far, which puts her third all-time in SCSU program history.
On the Bloomfield side,
Taneshia Tucker was the only double-digit scorer with 11 points on 3-of-9 shooting from the field.
Kamrin Babbs flirted with a double-double, snagging a team-high 8 boards to go along with 7 points for the Bears. Bloomfield shot just 19.4 percent from the field (12-62) as they registered only 2 fast break points and 4 second chance points.
