BRIDGEPORT, CONN – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team opened up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play Tuesday against the University of Bridgeport and suffered a, 57-49 setback on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bears opened up the scoring on a basket from Serenity Burgess but the home team took charge of the first quarter, 19-11. The Purple Knights grew their advantage to as many as, 14 (26-12) but the guest chipped away and by halftime had managed a 17-4 spurt that brought them to within one (30-29).
- An early layup in the third from freshman, Tamorie Wilson gave Bloomfield their first lead since the opening bucket (31-30) but the visitors offense went cold and they scored only one more basket in the period and Bridgeport went up, 44-33 heading into the fourth.
- The closest Bloomfield would get was six, 53-47 on a Babbs jumper but the Purple Knights finished off the battle to claim their first victory of the season and a perfect record to start conference play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Bridgeport out-rebounded the Bears, 49-42 and had a, 15-8 advantage in bench production
- The Purple Knights also held the edge in points in the paint (28-24) and points off of turnovers (16-13)
