WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bloomfield College of Montclair State University men's basketball team came out on top of their season opener against Assumption University, 93-92 in double overtime, Friday evening inside Andrew Laska Gymnasium.

Records: Bears (1-0, 0-0 CACC), Greyhounds (0-1, 0-0 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears hit five of their first ten shots, and took an, 11-4 lead, but the Greyhounds would come back to tie the game at 13-13. The home team then put together a 22-11 run that pushed Assumption ahead, 35-26 with 2:32 left on the first half clock. They carried a 39-30 advantage into the halftime break.
Bloomfield took their time to chip away at the deficit and tied the game at 51-51 on a Zamorian Singlton jumper at 10:18. The visitors would claim a slim lead at 74-73 with 34.5 left in regulation after a
Deavion Ellis bucket in the paint. The Hounds hit one of two free throws to send the game to overtime.
The Bears held the lead for most of the extra frame but Assumption battled back. Trailing by two,
Izaiah Poole drove the lane and tied the game with 3.5 seconds left to force a second overtime period.
Kareeme Davis came up big in the second extra frame as he converted on a layup with 3.5 seconds left and then blocked the Hounds final attempt to preserve the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Bears saw four starters and Kareeme Davis (15 points) off the bench score in double figures.
- Bloomfield outrebounded Assumption 59-49, while the Greyhounds had 17 steals, compared to 11 for the Bears.
- Edward Ngee recorded 3 blocked shots

- The all-time series is now tied 3-3.
