Able's Double-Double Fuels Bears, 62-57 Comeback Over Southern New Hampshire

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Junior Anisha Able recorded a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds to help the Bloomfield College women's basketball team rally in the fourth quarter against Southern New Hampshire University and pullout a, 62-57 victory Saturday evening in the Best Western Windjammer Tip-Off Classic at Saint Michael's College's Ross Sports Center.

  • Bloomfield's first win over SNHU in program history. The all-time series record is now 2-1.
  • The Bears held a 30-22 advantage in points in the paint and a commanding 15-5 edge in second chance points. Bloomfield dominated the game in steals with a 14-1 advantage over the Penmen.

THE ACTION
  • Southern New Hampshire moved out to a 10-2 lead over the opening 3:21, led by five points from Davis. A pair of freethrows sent the Penmen to the second quarter with a 19-7 advantage.
  • A layup from sophomore Ava Winterburn with 6:03 to go in the half gave SNHU its largest lead of the contest at 23-9, but Bloomfield would end the stanza with a 12-3 blitz capped by an Able layupthat slashed its deficit to 31-28 at the break.
  • The Penmen would go up by as many as eight in the third quarter and brought a 43-38 advantage into the final frame.
  • A Davis jumper just 23 seconds into the fourth pushed the Penmen lead to seven, but a three-pointer from Babbs finished off seven-straight from the Bears and evened the score at 45-all with 6:53 remaining. 
  • A 10-0 rushed flipped the game the Bears way as they took the lead at 59-52 with 1:18 on the clock after another Able bucket in the paint. SNHU would get as close as 61-57 with 17 seconds left but Bloomfield held on for the non-conference win.
