PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Bearns Softball team earned another Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) split Tuesday afternoon when they travelled to face Thomas Jefferson University. The Rams took Game 1, 4-1 but Bloomfield captured Game 2, 11-2 in 5 innings.
Bloomfield moved to 5-11 overall this season and 2-2 in league play while Jefferson held a similar 2-2 record in conference games after the split and 8-7 overall.
The Bears grabbed the lead in the top of the first on a double to right center from Raelyn D' Onofrio that scored Sierra Albritton and put the home team down, 1-0. That scored held up until the bottom of the fifth inning when Jocelyn Moody came on in relief and surrendered the tying run (1-1) The very next inning the Rams put up 3 runs to secure the first game of the day.
It was a different story in Game 2 as the Bloomfield offense exploded for 11 runs in five innings of play. D'Onofrio finished the day going 3-for-6 with 4 RBI. Moody also captured 4 RBI, all in Game 2 while going 3-for-8 at the plate for the day. Danielle Walters stepped in the circle for Game 2 and registered her fourth win of the season (4-3) pitching all five innings and allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and struck out 1 batter.
Next up the Bears return home for a non-conference tilt against Bloomsburg on Wednesday, March 20 at 2:30 pm & 4:30 pm. The continue CACC play on Saturday, March 23 when they host the Chestnut Hill Griffins at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
