BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Rain halted Game 2 of a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday and the Bears suffered a 3-0 loss in Game 1 against Bloomsburg University. The skies opened up heading into the top of the 4th inning forcing the umpires to call off play for the rest of the day leaving the Bears at 5-12 overall while the Huskies improved to 11-6.
Danielle Walters got the home team's lone hit in the bottom of the 7th of Game 1 spoiling a Bloomsburg no-hitter. Walters hit became her 97th in a Bears uniform and moved her one step closer to the career milestone of 100. Freshman hurler, Rayn Romero picked up her first loss of the season (0-1) going six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and struck out 1. Jillian Holmes came on in relief in the 7th and also struck out one batter while surrendering no runs and no hits.
Next up, Bloomfield will host Chestnut Hill on Sunday, March 24 at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader was moved from Saturday because of impending bad weather.
