PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Bloomfield College baseball team got their 2024 season underway on Tuesday when they traveled to Jefferson University for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showdown. The Bears suffered two setbacks to the Rams, a 22-0 loss in Game 1 and a 35-0 loss in Game 2. Bloomfield fell to 0-2 overall and in CACC action after the day.
Giordana Compres recorded his first hit in a Bears uniform in Game 1 while Andres Varas picked up the loss in his season opener on the mound. In Game 2, Lixander Mendez and Robert Jimenez got their first hits of 2024. Mendez also recorded his first stolen base. Manuel Gonzalez got the nod in Game 2 and suffered his first loss of the year on the mound.
Bloomfield will turn around for another CACC battle when they play their home opener on Wednesday, March 27 against Dominican University. The 10:00 am and 1:00 pm doubleheader was rescheduled due to impending inclement weather on Thursday.
