WILMINGTON, DEL - Playing the second of three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheaders this week, the Bears softball team dropped a pair of games to Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) on Thursday.
GAME ONE – Bloomfield 0, Goldey-Beacom 10 (Five Innings)
The Lightning pushed across five runs in the first inning and handed starting pitcher, Jocelyn Moody her fifth loss of the season (5-5). Naya Olacio got Bloomfield's only hit of the game spoiling GBC's no-hitter.
Jillian Holmes and Rayn Romero came on in relief with the freshman Romero going 2 and 2/3 innings and Holmes finishing up the entire fourth inning.
GAME TWO – Bloomfield 3, Goldey-Beacom 4
The second game of the day saw the visitors strike first on a single up the middle from Moody which scored Sierra Albritton. The Lightning answered in the bottom half of the 2nd to knot the game at 1-1 before Daniel Vidal scored on an error in the fourth to put Bloomfield back in front, 2-1.
A 3-run 6th helped GBC regain the lead for good this time as the Bears scratched across one run in the 7th and couldn't find the equalizer. Danielle Walters went the complete game giving up four runs on four hits and striking out one. Vidal picked up her 99th career hit with a double to left-field in the fourth.
UP NEXT
Bloomfield will host Felician University on Saturday afternoon for a 12 p.m. CACC doubleheader. The Bears will also celebrate Senior Day as it marks their final regular-season home game.
