BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Bloomfield picked up an important sweep on Saturday against Felician University in a pivotal Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle at Clarks Pond South. The two victories came after a heartfelt Senior Day Ceremony held at Carla D. Ward Field.
Prior to the first pitch, the Bears took the time to honor their 8 seniors who have helped out the program tremendously over the years. Gianna Casillas, Alicia Serrano, Sierra Albritton, Miya Payne, Danielle Walters, Kaitlyn Dooley, Naya Olacio and Raelyn D'Onofrio were all recognized for their contributions to Bloomfield's success over their careers. The Bears athletic department also took the time to acknowledge the Golden Falcons' seniors for their accomplishments across their careers. Prior to starting in the circle, Walters serenaded the crowd with her emotional rendition of the Star Spangled Banner to get the game underway.
GAME ONE – Felician 2, Bloomfield 3
Walters gave up a run to the Golden Falcons in the first inning and then another in the fourth that put Bloomfield behind 2-0. The Bears rallied however in the bottom half of the fourth as Hailey Conner doubled down the right field line to drive in seniors, Naya Olacio and Miya Payne. Connor came around for the go-ahead run on a Felician error.
Walters pitched a complete game for her 9th win of the season and struck out 11 batters while scattering 4 hits. Albritton picked up a stolen base and hit 2-for-3.
GAME TWO – Felician 0, Bloomfield 1
In dramatic fashion, Jocelyn Moody took a no-hitter all the way up to the last out of the game before a Golden Falcon singled to center field. Unfortunately for Felician the Bears senior center fielder, Albritton, came up throwing and ended the game on a laser beam to nail a player at home plate who had reached after being hit by a pitch.
Moody settled for a 1-hitter as she struck out three as she moved her record to 6-5 in the circle. Bloomfield only managed two hits in Game 2 but one of them was Daniella Vidal's 100thof her career which came in the bottom of the fifth. After the milestone hit, a sac-fly from Hailey Connor scored Jillian Holmes and the deciding run in the fifth.
