CALDWELL, NJ – The Bears softball team traveled up Bloomfield Ave and came away with a split against Caldwell University on Monday. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle helped Bloomfield solidify their playoff position for the upcoming postseason tournament.
GAME ONE – Bloomfield 0, Caldwell 8 (Six Innings)
The Cougars struck first in the opening inning and pushed across two. The home team would add two more runs in the third off of starting pitcher, Jocelyn Moody. Despite scattering 5 hits, highlighted by two doubles, one from Moody and the other from Danielle Walters, the visitors couldn't get on the board and Caldwell ended the game in the sixth with three runs on reliever, Rayn Romero.
GAME TWO – Bloomfield 3, Caldwell 1
The second game of the day saw the visitors bounce back as the Bears rallied in the top of the sixth with 2 runs highlighted by a triple to right field by Miya Payne. Alicia Serrano singled to left field in the 7th for an insurance run as closed out another complete game for her tenth win of the year. Walters also hit a double in the game to help her cause.
UP NEXT
Bloomfield will challenge the top-team in the CACC and regionally ranked Wilmington to close out the regular season on Wednesday. Game 1 in Delaware is 2:30 pm first pitch as the Bears look to lock in their postseason position.
