BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Bloomfield College of Montclair State University men's soccer team surrendered a pair of late goals in the second half to the University of Bridgeport and suffered a, 4-2 setback on Tuesday. The road-loss dropped the Bears to 1-2-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the CACC while the Purple Knights improved their record to 3-2-2 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Bloomfield saw Bridgeport post a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks while also outshooting their visitors, 36-9.
Matthew Brun recorded 15 saves that helped keep the Bears within striking distance.
After the Purple Knights went up, 2-0 early into the 2
nd half,
Milan Umeoka cut the visitors' deficit in half with a strike in the 62
nd minute of play.
Christian Jhon Cruz assisted on the Umeoka goal and found the back of the net himself at the 73:44 mark on a ball from
Felipe Faria to knot the score at, 2-2. The home team found the go-ahead-goal in the 82
ndminute and added an insurance goal in the 85
th minute to seal the conference win.
Bloomfield will hit the field again on Wednesday, October 2 when they host Dominican University at 7:00 pm.
