Bears Roll, 114-58 In First USCAA Action Of The Year Over Villa Maria

BUFFALO, NY – The women's basketball team went on the road for their first taste of USCAA action and came away with a, 114-58 victory over Villa Maria College. The high-scoring affair marked the most post scored by the Bears (1-2) offense since 2015 as they secured their first win of the season. The Vikings fell to 0-3 on the season with the home setback.  
 
Bloomfield enjoyed four out-of five of their starters in double-figures led by junior transfer, Nia Mallette who registered her first double-double in a Bear uniform scoring a game-high, 24 points to go along with a game-high 13 rebounds. 
 
Bianca Ellis added 23 points which included five three-pointers while senior, Ania Martinez recorded a career-high, 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field. Classmate Anisha Able flirted with her second-straight double-double chipping in 14 points and 9 rebounds. 
 
Bloomfield attempted 101 shots for the game and shot 41.6 percent from the field (42-of-101). Despite being out-rebounded 54-53, the visitors forced 44 turnovers fueled by 25 steals and converted 47 points off of takeaways.

The Bears will spend the night in the Empire State and travel to Bryant and Stratton College of Buffalo on Sunday, November 16. Their first ever meeting with the Bobcats is set for a 12:00 pm tip.
