BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Bloomfield College held on at home Wednesday afternoon for a, 91-85 victory over American International College (AIC). The battle with the Yellow Jackets improved the Bears overall record to 9-3 on the season while the visitors fell to 2-10.
The New Year's Eve contest saw a career-high, 22 points from
Devin Artis who went 7-for-12 from the field including 3-of-5 from three-point range. The sophomore also added 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals against AIC. Bloomfield's leading scorer on the season,
Zamorian Singleton netted 21 points, shooting a blistering 8-of-15 from the floor. Senior,
Marcus Bucknall added in 18 points while freshman
Jahi Whitney took advantage of his second-straight start recording 12 points.
The home team lead by as many as fourteen (36-22) but by halftime the Yellow Jackets had stormed back with a 21-8 spurt to pull within 44-43. The visitors went up 49-46 early in the 2
nd half but the Bears quickly countered with an 11-2 run to regain control. Bloomfield was outrebounded, 50-34 and dominated on points in the paint, 42-26 but down the stretch, buckets from Artis and Singleton kept the home team in front for the win.
