WATERBURY, CONN. – The Bloomfield College baseball team lost the opening two games of a weekend series against Post University on Friday. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) setbacks left the Bears at 0-32 for the season with a, 0-22 conference mark while the Eagles improved to 23-16 overall and 19-7 in league play.
Game 1 saw the visitors jump in front, 4-0 in the 2
nd inning powered by a
Robert Jimenez single to center which scored two runs. Post got a run back in the bottom of the frame before pulling even with three runs in the 3
rd inning. The home team eventually took the opening game, 9-4 after scoring the go-ahead run off of reliever,
Matthew Rao (0-2) in the fourth inning.
In Game 2
Franny Medina went 2-for-3 as the Bears scattered four hits but where shut-out, 5-0.
Elian Estrella (0-8) picked up the loss on the mound, going five innings, giving up five runs, only two earned, on three hits while striking out two and walking five.
NEXT UP
Bloomfield will spend the night in Connecticut and get after it again with Post tomorrow. The CACC Saturday doubleheader set for a noontime first pitch.
