Bears Power Past Penn State Hazleton in Doubleheader Sweep At Home

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Bloomfield College Bears offense was in high gear on Wednesday afternoon, using early-inning surges to secure a pair of victories over visiting Penn State Hazleton at Carla D. Ward Field. Under sunny and mild conditions, the home team's bats came alive, providing more than enough support for the pitching staff that kept the visitors at bay throughout the double dip.

In the opening game of the twin bill, Bloomfield wasted no time, hanging four runs on the board in the first inning before exploding for six more in the second to seal a 19-1 five inning win. Game 2 saw much of the same, as the Bears erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning alone. The relentless attack forced Hazleton into early pitching changes in both games, but the momentum stayed on the Bloomfield side as they secured the USCAA victories.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • First Inning Fireworks: Bloomfield set the tone immediately in the second game, erupting for 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take total control.
  • Offensive Explosion: Across the two games, the Bears' lineup was firing on all cylinders, racking up a combined 36 runs on 28 hits, including nine doubles, two triples, and two home runs.
  • Pitching Dominance: Jaida Hastings earned the win in the first contest, allowing only one hit and one run over three innings of work while striking out five.
  • Hazleton's Third Inning Rally: The visitors found their only sustained offensive rhythm in the third inning of game two, scoring four runs on four hits, highlighted by RBI doubles from Amber Kelly and Tiffany Brogan.
  • Disciplined Eye: In addition to their power display, the Bears' discipline at the plate was evident as they drew a total of 12 walks over the two games to keep constant pressure on the visitors' pitching staff.
