MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The Bloomfield Bears softball team continued their mid-season surge on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Middletown to secure a pair of victories over Orange County Community College. Behind a relentless offensive attack and a gritty performance in the circle, the Bears swept the twin bill with a 19-11 slugfest in the opener and a 7-6 clinical finish in the second game of the day.
In the first contest, Bloomfield's bats were firing on all cylinders, racking up 16 hits and scoring in six of the seven innings. The Bears established dominance early but truly broke the game open with an eight-run explosion in the final frame to seal the 19-run performance.
Reyna Ozuna was the catalyst for the offense, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, and a staggering six runs scored.
The momentum carried into the second game, where a massive seven-run second inning proved to be the difference. Despite a late push from the home side, the Bears' defense and pitching staff held firm to preserve the one-run lead.
Hailey Connor provided the big hit in the second inning, driving in two runs to help secure the second victory of the day.
With the sweep, Bloomfield improves to 11-7 on the season and extends their current winning streak to ten games since returning from Florida's Spring Break trip.
