Biography

About Harris:  The quintessential point guard, Ahmad became one of the most decorated players in the men's basketball program's Division II Era during his brilliant four-year career with the Deacons, concluding his tenure at Bloomfield as a senior during the 2011-2012 season.

As a senior:  Played in all 34 games with 34 starts, averaging 37.6 minutes per game to lead the Deacons...The CACC Co-Player of the Year, Harris averaged 10.7 points to finished third on the club in scoring...Led Bloomfield in rebounding, averaging 7.9 boards per contest (seventh in the CACC)...Averaged 6.8 assists to just 2.5 turnovers per game, finishing with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.7 (placing him tenth in Division II Basketball)...6.8 assists per game led the CACC and placed him seventh in the nation in the category...Led the CACC in steals, totaling 2.2 swipes per game (placing him 26th in the nation)...Finished fifth in the league with 99 offensive rebounds, tops on the Deacons...Reached double-figures in scoring in 19 of Bloomfield's 34 games, eclipsing 20 points on three occasions...Totaled double-figures in rebounding in 11 games, notching a season-high 13 boards in a victory over St. Anselm College December 30, 2011...Tallied a season-high 13 assists in a victory over non-conference opponent Dowling College on November 22, 2011...Notched a season-high five steals on four separate occasions, all Bloomfield victories...Totaled six double-doubles as a senior in 2011-2012...Earned First Team All-CACC, NABC All-District, and an Honorable Mention All-America selection by the Division II Bulletin, as well as a selection to the Reese's Division II All-Star Game during his banner senior campaign.

As a junior:  Played in all 32 games with 32 starts as a junior in 2010-2011...Averaged 7.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 25.2 minutes per contest...Totaled 384 points, 197 rebounds (second on the Deacons) and led the team with 66 steals...Ranked second in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio, averaging 3.68 helpers for each turnover...Also ranked 41st in the country in steals per game (2.1)...Led the CACC in steals per game (2.06), finished sixth in assists per game (4.22), 10th in free-throw percentage (79%) and 18th in rebounds per game (6.2)...A third team All-CACC selection at guard, Harris was also named a second team All-Met selection during his junior season...Ahmad's signature performance in the Deacons' run to the Elite Eight came in a home contest against Nyack College...when the point guard totaled a game and career-high 20 rebounds to go with 15 points, eight rebounds and a pair of steals in an 86-45 victory February 7.

As a sophomore:  Played in 20 games with 15 starts, missing time in the latter part of the season due to injury...Averaged 5.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest...Dished out 65 assists, while turning the ball over just 26 times...Shot just over 41% from the floor, while pulling down 73 total rebounds.

As a freshman:  Started all 30 games for the Deacons, averaging 6.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game...Shot 54% from the field, including 53% from beyond the arc...Went for a game-high 16 points in a 79-58 victory over Post University.

Before Bloomfield:  Starring at Linden High School before enrolling at Bloomfield College, Ahmad recorded a triple-double and was an All-Defensive Team selection during his standout high school career.

Why Ahmad chose Division II:  “I chose Division II because I like the atmosphere here at Bloomfield College, and I get along very well with my coaches and teammates.”
