Biography
About Thomas: A talented player who continues to improve, Da'Cheray rejoins the Lady Deacons for her senior season after another solid campaign in 2011. Also a standout in the classroom, Thomas was the only member of the volleyball team to earn a spot on the CACC Fall All-Academic Team, awarded to students who have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and are at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
As a junior: Appeared in 24 matches with 84 sets played...Finished third on the Lady Deacons with 177 total kills in 2011...Placed fifth on the club with 10 service aces...One of three Bloomfield players to total at least 20 blocks, Thomas finished second on the team with 27 total blocks and led the club with 20 block assists...Totaled double-digit kills four times as a junior in 2011...Tallied a season-high 15 kills in a loss to CACC North Division rival Nyack College on October 4, 2011...Da'Cheray's exemplary work in the classroom earned the junior her second consecutive spot on the CACC Fall All-Academic Team.
As a sophomore: Appeared in all 27 matches with 97 sets played...Finished third on the 2010 club with 211 kills to post a 2.18 kills per set average...Notched six assists, 14 service aces and 54 digs...The Lady Deacons' top defensive force in front of the net, Thomas led the team with 30 solo blocks and finished third with 13 block assists...Her .44 blocks per set average placed her second on the team in her sophomore season...Posted double-digit kills in nine matches, including 13 on three separate occasions (October 12 against Caldwell College, October 30 against USP and November 9 against Dominican College in the opening round of the CACC Tournament).
As a freshman: Appeared in 18 matches with 54 sets played...Finished the season with 64 kills, notching the fourth-highest kills per set average on the club at 1.19...Totaled six assists and 26 digs...Registered two solo blocks and five block assists as a freshman in 2009.
Before Bloomfield: Da'Cheray starred at Science Park High School before joining the Bloomfield College program as a freshman in 2009.
Why Da'Cheray chose Division II: "I chose Bloomfield College because it's close to my home, a very good school academically and it gave me the opportunity to play volleyball at the next level."
