Jason Bavolar enters his second season with the Bloomfield coaching staff in 2019-20 after helping the team attain a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season championship with a 17-2 mark in league play.
Prior to Bloomfield, Bavolar served at NYIT for 2 seasons from 2016-18, where he mentored East Coast Conference leading scorer Jeffrey Hayden, his primary duties was identifying and recruiting talent throughout the nation as well as scouting opponents and working with players at all positions.
Before arriving at NYIT, Bavolar served as an assistant coach at Brooklyn College. The team compiled a 45-14 record during a two-season span with Bavolar on the staff, and peaked at No. 17 nationally in the
D3Hoops.com poll. The Bullodgs reached the CUNYAC championship game during the 2014-15 season and earned a No. 1 seed in the ECAC postseason tournament. The following season, Bavolar helped lead Brooklyn College to the CUNYAC championship and a bid in the Division III NCAA Tournament. While at Brooklyn, he coached three 1,000-point scorers. That includes Egzon Gjonbalaj, who remains Brooklyn's all-time leading scorer.
Bavolar previously coached the Elmont Cardinals from 2012 through 2015. The AAU program competed in numerous tournaments throughout the year and defeated premier AAU programs including the Long Island Lightning, Crown Basketball and Rising Stars.
Bavolar launched his coaching career as a student assistant coach at LIU Post while an undergraduate under current Niagara University head coach Chris Casey. The Pioneers won back-to-back ECC Championships and earned consecutive bids to the Division II NCAA Tournament in 2011 and 2012.
Bavolar also has worked numerous prestige camps such as Hoop Group Elite, The John Thompson Basketball Camp at Georgetown University, Columbia University Elite Camp, Scout Focus and Breakthrough Basketball.
Bavolar is a 2014 graduate of LIU Post with a bachelor’s degree in political science, and a 2017 graduate of Adelphi University with a master's degree in sports management.
