Bloomfield- The Lady Deacons rallied in the second half to overcome a three point half time deficit to defeat CACC foe Post University by a score of 57-44. The Lady Deacons improve their overall record to 7-6 on the season and are now 4-1 in CACC play. Post University drops to 0-4 in conference play and 2-11 overall.
Bloomfield got off to a rough start in the first half shooting just 27.6% from the floor and turning the ball over 9 times. The Eagles controlled all of the first half, leading by as many as 9 points with just over 3 minutes to play. The Lady Deacons would work to pull within three as time expired in period 1.
Post would begin the 2nd half by extending lead to 6 points with 16 minutes to play. From that point it was all Lady Deacons. In the next ten minutes, BC would turn the game around with a 25-7 run taking and extending their lead to 12 points at 50-38 with six minutes to play. BC would use their depth and athleticism to their advantage, running the full court press to create turnovers and generate offensive opportunities. BC's shooting improved dramatically to 41% in period 2. The Lady Deacons would push their lead to as many as 14 before finishing the game up 57-44.
Nichole Hawkins would lead the Lady Deacons on the offensive end, scoring 15 of her 17 points in the second half. Hawkins would have her second double of the season, with game highs in rebounds (15) and points (17).
Alexis Sweeney and
Renee Vales would each add 8 points in the win, both making 3-8 from the field. Sweeney would have 3 steals and Vales would dish out 2 assists.
The Lady Deacons get back into action this Thursday when they take on visiting Dominican College in a CACC match-up beginning at 6pm.
