Williams, McDaniel lead Bloomfield past Dominican 66-42

Duo combines for 25 points in victory

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The women's basketball team improved to 9-2 in CACC play Thursday night, with a victory over the Dominican College Lady Chargers (10-10, 7-5 CACC) in the Deacons' Den.

Coach Wimberly's squad kept their perfect home record intact by using the staple that has made them so successful:  The Lady Deacons' suffocating defense forced the Lady Chargers into 20 total turnovers and a 16% shooting performance from the floor through the first 20 minutes of play.  Bloomfield was the polar opposite, connecting from the field at a 53% clip in the opening frame, and building a commanding 39-15 advantage at intermission.

It was more of the same in the second half, as the Lady Deacons avenged their early season loss to Dominican with superb efficiency.  Six players scored at least seven points in the win, helping keep the Lady Chargers at a safe distance and bringing BC's overall record to .500 at 9-9, and their North Division-leading CACC mark to an outstanding 9-2.

Freshman forward Dre'Shonda Williams anchored the balanced offensive attack for Bloomfield, notching 13 points on 5-9 shooting.  Tiffany McDaniel continued her elite play with another outstanding performance in the lowpost, dropping 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Emily Horrocks, Gretchen Rodrigues and Vanessa Lamison each contributed eight points apiece in solid efforts.  Rachel Sainten was the bright spot for the Lady Chargers, netting a team-high 15 points while connecting on five of her nine field goal attempts.

The Lady Deacons return to the hardwood Saturday, February 6 with a home matchup against CACC rival Holy Family University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.  Saturday's game is Bloomfield's annual "Think Pink" event, an event in which all proceeds will be donated to a Cancer-related charity.
