Deacons cruise to tenth victory with 93-53 triumph over Nyack

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (January 3, 2012) - Four players notched at least 15 points in Bloomfield's seventh consecutive victory Tuesday evening, as the men's basketball team improved to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play with a 93-53 win over CACC North Division rival Nyack College.

The Deacons led wire-to-wire in their most decisive triumph of the season, engineering a 21-6 run to begin the contest and put the visiting Warriors in a significant hole early.  Bloomfield was able to limit Nyack to just 28% shooting from the field in the opening half, forcing seven Warrior turnovers to take a commanding 53-23 lead into the intermission.

It would prove to be more of the same over the final 20 minutes of play, as the Deacons shot a scorching 39% from long range on the evening to maintain their sizable advantage.  Bloomfield's home record improved to 5-1 on the 2011-2012 season, the club maintaining their stature as the North Division's top squad with their fourth conference victory of the season.

Senior point guard Ahmad Harris (Linden, N.J.) turned in a vintage performance, totaling 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists on the evening.  Fellow senior Matt Wafula (Harlem, N.Y.) continued his banner senior campaign by leading the Deacons in scoring, totaling 17 points and nine rebounds.  Sophomores Steve Henderson (West Orange, N.J.) and Terry Hicks (Neptune, N.J.) each joined Harris with 15 points, with Henderson connecting on five of his seven three-point attempts in his reserve performance of the season.  Sophomore big man Kevin Udo (West Orange, N.J.) turned in one of the East Region's top defensive performances of the season in the victory, notching eight points, 11 rebounds and a career-high eight blocks in a standout effort.

Bloomfield returns to action Saturday, January 7, when they welcome CACC South Division Rival University of the Sciences for a home conference matchup.  Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
