Lady Deacons edge Dominican 56-54

BOX SCORE

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (January 15, 2013)
– Freshman guard Najha Carter (Neptune, N.J.) led the Bloomfield College women's basketball team with 12 points and six rebounds as they defeated CACC North Division-leading Dominican College 56-54 at the Deacons Den Tuesday night.  The win moves Bloomfield to 9-8 overall and 6-4 in the CACC, one game behind Dominican.

Early on, the Lady Chargers took an eight-point lead with superb three-point shooting through the first four minutes of the contest.  However, Bloomfield would respond and take the lead during the half, forcing multiple turnovers and fast-break opportunities.  At halftime, BC was up 33-29.

In the second half, the Lady Deacons got out to an eight-point lead before Dominican came back to take the lead late in the ballgame.  However, two timely baskets by senior forward Shaniqua Bacote (Paterson, N.J.) in the last 1:22 of the contest put Bloomfield ahead for good.  The Lady Deacons extended their winning streak to two after beating Felician on Saturday.

Freshman guard Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake, Va.) had ten points, nine steals, five rebounds and four assists in the victory.  Junior guard Ivettlis Castro (Carteret, N.J.) had ten points off the bench.

Bloomfield's next game is at home against CACC North rival Concordia College on Wednesday, January 23.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
