For a third consecutive game, Bloomfield spotted their CACC opponent a 0-7 advantage at the onset but unlike previous games, the Deacons were unable to overcome the deficit by halftime. The Cougars went to the locker room with a 34-20 advantage at the break and Bloomfield had shot just 26.0% from the field in the half.
Determined to make a game of it, the Deacons drew even at 38-38 following a layup by Taylor which capped an 18-4 run to begin the second stanza. Caldwell would answer with a 9-0 run of their own, pulling ahead 47-38 but Bloomfield would battle back, finally drawing even again at 54-54 setting up the finish down the stretch.
