NYACK, N.Y. - The Bloomfield College Bears men's soccer team picked up their first victory of the season traveling to Nyack for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference(CACC) battle against the Warriors. The Bears scored 4 unanswered goals in the second half en-route to a 4-1 decision in their first CACC match this year. Led by sophomore
Osayande Aihinmwan (Lagos, Nigeria) with 2 goals, Bloomfield now improves their record to 1-3-0 overall and 1-0 in CACC action while the Warriors fall to 0-4-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
The first half belonged to the Warriors as Tobias Ressig found the net on a pass inside the box in the 38th minute to put the home team up 1-0. Nyack out shot Bloomfield 10-1 in the opening stanza however sophomore goalie
Arthur Clapot (Annecy, France) notched 4 saves and helped keep the Bears within striking distance heading into the break.
Bloomfield open the second half with a ferocious start when sophomore
Shaunavon deSouza (Montego Bay, Jamaica) tickled the twine with an unassisted goal deflected off the Warriors goal keeper at 61:01. Sophomore Jonathan Marin would score the next goal for the Bears off a pass from senior
Charles Crichlow (Cano Garden, St. Thomas) in the 74th minute as the Bloomfield offense began to pick up steam. Aihinmwan would breakthrough just a little over 5 minutes later with his first goal to put the Bears in control, adding his second with 85:36 showing on the clock to seal the victory.
Bloomfield's offense came alive in the second half posting a 15-6 advantage in shots and a 8-4 margin in corner kicks overall for the game.
The next test for the Bears will come in the form of more exciting CACC action when they travel south to take on the Tigers of Holy Family University this Saturday, September 20th at 2:30pm.Â
