Box Score BLOOMFIELD, N.J.- The senior members of the Bloomfield College women's basketball team were honored prior to today's game for their service and commitment to the school and their team. Seniors
Lauren Deverin (Sewaren, N.J.),
Tierra Scott (Bear, D.E.),
Bianca Celi (South Brunswick, N.J.), and
Alisha Brown (Paterson, N.J.) were all acknowledged before Saturday's game.
The seniors were introduced to the crowd and given flowers as they met their families at half court and posed for pictures. Coach
David Caputo shared some highlight moments and kind words about each senior during their introduction. Caputo also filled his lineup with seniors giving them the chance to shine and bring home the win on their memorable day.
The electricity from the senior day festivities carried on into the game as the Bears defeated Georgian Court University by a score of 82-58. Sophomore guard
Tianna Smith (Nanuet, N.Y.) and guard
Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake, V.A.) led Bloomfield to victory with amazing performances. Smith scored 29 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and had 6 steals. Wilson had 23 points to go along with her 7 rebounds and 9 steals. Deverin, also played a huge part scoring 16 points on her senior day.
The Bears were down early on in the first half, until a 28-5 run gave Bloomfield a lead that would not be relinquished. The all-around performances from Smith and Wilson gave the Bears a 49-28 lead going into the halftime break.
The Lions offense in the second half would be very efficient, shooting 56 percent from the floor in the final frame. Bloomfield's suffocating defense contained the Georgian Court's offense and helped secure the win for the seniors.
Bloomfield College would like to thank our seniors for their commitment to excellence and representing the program in such an outstanding way.
Their legacy doesn't end here, the Bears return to action this Tuesday, February 17
th against Post University. Game time is set for 6:00 pm in the Bloomfield College Gym.
