LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Less than 24 hours after securing a good come-from-behind win over a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), the Bloomfield College women's volleyball team fell against Georgian Court University and Molloy College Saturday afternoon during a tri-match. Both matches went to deciding 5
th sets and Bears could not claw out a win as their overall record dropped to 3-8 on the year and 1-1 in conference play.
In Match 1, Bloomfield fell in a hard fought battle to the Lions of GCU by set scores of 25-19 (G), 25-9 (B), 25-14 (B), 25-19 (G) and 15-8 (G) to begin their afternoon in Lakewood.
Senior
Valerie Bermudez (San Juan, P.R.) notched 20 digs, 15 kills and 3 service aces blocks while
Nayade Paulino (Paterson, N.J.) registered 7 kills and 5 blocks. Seniors,
Jacquelyn Madlock (Alta Loma, Calif.) and
Edmarie Freytes (San Juan, P.R.) served up 20 and 12 assists respectively and libero,
Samantha Rios (Juncos, P.R.) added in 17 Match 1 digs. Junior
Alex Glasper (Hainesport, N.J.) recorded three blocks for the game.
The Bears followed a similar path in Match 2 dropping the first set, 25-23 (M), before snagging the next two, 25-22 (B), 25-16 (B) and then dropped the final two, 25-18 (M) and 15-13. Freshman,
Danielle Quintanar (El Paso, T.X.) shined in the match against the Lions of Molloy with 14 kills, 13 digs and 4 service aces for the Bears. Madlock served up most of the chances against Molloy, recording 24 assists, while classmate
Caitlyn Naylor (Tacoma, W.A.) chipped in 19 assists for Bloomfield.
Bloomfield will return to the road for their next action on Wednesday, September 21
st when they face Concordia College. The Bears are set to play a 6:00 pm match with the Clippers in CACC action from Bronxville.
