BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Bears saw their two-game home winning streak come to a conclusion when the Eagles of Post University soared into town and took a 3-1 decision Tuesday evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) north division showdown.
The teams first meeting since squaring off for the league championship trophy last season proved to be very exciting as the visitors captured the win with set scores of 25-22 (P), 25-18 (B), 25-17 (P) and 25-16 (P).
The setback dropped Bloomfield to 6-9 overall for the season and 3-2 in CACC contests while Post improved to 11-3 on the year and 3-1 in conference play.
Senior
Nayade Paulino (Paterson, N.J.) tallied 7 kills and 3 blocks for the evening and classmates
Edmarie Freytes (San Juan, P.R.) and
Jacquelyn Madlock (Alta Loma, Calif.) recorded 11 and 10 assists respectively. Libero,
Samantha Rios (Juncos, P.R.) added 13 digs during the game and junior
Alex Glasper (Hainesport, N.J.) led the Bears' defense at the net with five blocks.
The Bears will continue their CACC home stand on Friday evening when they welcome the Golden Falcons from Felician University. The weekend kickoff match is set to start at 6:00 pm in the Bloomfield Gym.
