EASTON, MA – The Bloomfield College women's volleyball team dropped two matches on Sunday at the Skyhawks Invitational. The Bears fell to Shephard and Stonehill, each by a score of 3-0 on the final day of the tournament.
 
Shephard 3, Bloomfield 0
In the first match of the day, the Bears took on the Rams from Shephard University and despite a valiant effort dropped the non-conference battle in straight sets. The Rams took 25-20, 25-10 and 25-18 set wins and handed Bloomfield their first loss of the season.
 
Jandra Fabian (Santa Dominigo, DR) put in a stellar performance for Bloomfield as she registered 15 digs and 11 kills. The Bears offense went thru freshman, Junelly Marrero (Cantano, PR) as the setter recorded 22 assists and sophomore Danielle Quintanar (El Paso, TX) chipped in 10 kills and 6 digs.
 
Bloomfield 0, Stonehill 3
The Bears waited a few hours before their match up with the Skyhawks but the tournament host swept Bloomfield by the scores of 25-9, 25-18 and 25-13. The Bears finished the weekend 1-2 and with valuable experience on the road.
 
Fabian was named to the All-Tournament Team for her play across the entire weekend. The Bloomfield outside hitter averaged 4.00 points per set and 3.89 digs per set. She led the team with 3.44 kills per set.

The Bears next challenge comes when they travel to Waturbury to participate in the Post Eagles Invitational. The Saturday and Sunday tournament will feature teams from the ECC and Northeast-10 as Bloomfield grapples with Southern Conn. State and Saint Rose on Day 1 and Molloy and LIU Post on Day 2.
