LAKELAND, FLA.–
Kavione Green (Amityville, NY) posted his second double-double of the year which included a season-high, 29 points alongside 11 rebounds but it was not enough as Bloomfield suffered a, 72-63 loss to Saint Leo University on Tuesday evening. The setback on Day 1 of the Mocs Christmas Classic dropped the Bears to 4-5 on the year while the Lions improved to 4-6.
The teams battled to a, 33-33 tie at halftime on the neutral ground of Jenkins Field House at Florida Southern College. The Lions had few answers for Green in the opening stanza as the Bears senior forward went a blistering, 8-of-12 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Green also grabbed eight of his rebounds in the 1
sthalf.
Saint Leo held Green to just three field goals in the 2
ndhalf and drained 50.0 percent of their three-pointers to distance themselves from Bloomfield.
Rich Chapman (Newark, NJ) picked up his production in the final frame, pouring in ten of his fifteen total points.
The road doesn't get any easier for the Bears in their next contest as they prepare to face the Christmas Classic hosts, Florida Southern. The No. 10 Moccasins (8-1) are set to roll out the welcome mat for a 7:30 pm battle on Wednesday night in the Sunshine State.
