BLOOMFIELD, NJ - BC Men's Soccer – Read Across America

On Friday March 2^nd, the Bloomfield College Men's Soccer team participated in the National Education Association's yearly reading initiative, Read Across America. BC Men's Soccer student-athletes visited Brookdale Elementary, in Bloomfield, NJ and sat down with an eager audience of 5^th and 6^th grade students. The players introduced themselves, spoke about the experience that has led them to becoming student-athletes at the collegiate level, and how reading has affected their education and led them to their current studies. 
 
Once introductions were made, two student-athletes read books to a room full of captivated young listeners. The reading was followed by a Q&A session, with a limitless amount of topics covered. Questions varied from – "How much do you read for your classes?" to "What are your favorite foods from your countries?"
 
The event proved to be a wonderfully rich experience for everyone involved. Ellen Luca, Brookdale Media Specialist, was immensely influential in organizing this event and commented after the reading,  "We can't say enough for the experience! Our kids really enjoyed learning from your student-athletes. They had great information to share on such a variety of important topics. The other teachers and I were very impressed with the maturity and perspective that your soccer players displayed while speaking with the students."
 
Bloomfield College would like to thank the Brookdale elementary school's faculty, staff, students and anyone else involved in making this great event a magnificent success.
