BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College volleyball team suffered a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference setback Tuesday evening in a thrilling, 3-2 battle with the Warriors from Nyack College. The Bears had the home crowd in 'The Den' on edge as the game went to a fifth and deciding set before Nyack seized the night and kept Bloomfield winless in 2018.
 
Freshman Destiny King (Williamstown, NJ) put forth her best effort in a Bears uniform with a career-high, 24 kills and 4 blocks. The rookie now sits at third on the team in kills and second in blocks. Classmate, Laityn Sarna (Las Vegas, NV) also chipped in a career-high day with 47 assists against the Warriors while sophomore libero, Junelly Marrero (Cantano, Puerto Rico) turned in a modest 28 digs for the Bloomfield defense. Danielle Quintanar (El Paso, TX) came up clutch for the Bears with 19 digs, 13 kills and 2 service aces.
 
The match was hotly contested from start to finish as the visitors took Set 1 with an astonishing 31-29 final score. Bloomfield bounced back to claim Sets 2 & 3 by scores of 25-21 and 25-21 before the Warriors evened things with an intense 27-25 Set 4 win. Nyack pulled away in the final set and ended the night with a 15-11 win to take the match.
 
The Bears will be back in action Friday when they host Felician Unversity in another CACC matchup. Bloomfield rolls out the welcome mat for the 6:00 pm showdown in The Den.
