BLOOMFIELD, NJ– The Bloomfield College women's volleyball team scored their first victory of 2018 Friday night in front of an electrifying crowd at The Den. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle with Felician University went the Bears way to the tune of a, 3-1. The home team played an inspired game in front of their families as the Bears celebrated 'Parents Night' and secured league win to move to, 1-17 overall and 1-6 in CACC play.
Freshmen
Destiny King (Williamstown, NJ) and
Laityn Sarna (Las Vegas, NV) continued their excellent play on the court as King registered 12 kills and 4 blocks on the evening and Sarna paced the offense with 43 assists. Sophomore libero,
Junelly Marrero (Cantano, Puerto Rico) led the defense recording 19 digs while serving up four aces.
Danielle Quintanar (El Paso, TX) was efficient in her approach, notching 12 kills, 12 digs and 2 service aces.
The Bears spotted the Golden Falcons Set 1 by a score of, 25-22 before roaring back to claim the next three sets by marks of 25-23, 26-24 and 26-24. Fittingly, King put the game away with a match-ending kill in Set 4.
Bloomfield has only a few hours to savor the victory before the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College come to town for a noontime showdown in The Den. The Saturday afternoon match between the two CACC schools is sure to be a good one.
