WILMINGTON, DEL – Men's basketball travelled to Delaware to face the Wildcats and suffered a 67-64 loss at the Wilmu Athletic Complex Saturday. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) setback dropped Bloomfield to 2-3 in league play and two games below .500 (6-8) overall.
Rich Chapman (Newark, NJ) played a solid first half registering 10 points and 6 rebounds to lead the Bears into the locker room. Wilmington used 14 points from their reserves to secure a 31-28 advantage in a low-scoring opening half.
The 2
nd half was a stalemate as each team scored 36 points but the Wildcats' three point margin at the break proved to be the difference and they secured their first conference win (1-3 CACC) and third overall (3-9) of the season. Chapman finished the game with a team-high 19 points for the visitors while junior guard,
Tariq McKenith (Newark, NJ) snagged a career-high 10 rebounds to go along with 6 points, 5 assists and 2 steals.
Safee Abdus-Sabur (Newark, NJ) added 16 points for Bloomfield and freshman
Isaiah Sparks (Ewing, NJ) went 4-of-5 from the field including 2-of-2 from deep for 11 points off the bench.
The Bears return to the friendly confines of The Den when Felician University stops by on January 8. The Wednesday evening CACC North Division battle is set for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
