BLOOMFIELD, NJ –The Bears men's basketball team hosted the Lions from Molloy College Saturday afternoon and came away with a, 73-62 win. The regional thriller in The Den saw Bloomfield snap a 5-game slide and improve to 2-7 on the year while the Lions dropped to 2-9 for the season.
The Bears controlled the opening half of play, streaking out to a 38-30 advantage led by
Tyrek Battle-Holley (Jersey City, NJ) with 9 points. The home team went a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line to place Molloy behind at the half.
The 2
ndhalf was more of the same as Bloomfield out-paced the visitors and never relinquished their lead. Battle-Holley finished the day, 7-for-15 from the field for a game-high 19 points. Fellow starter,
Wesley Robinson (Burlington, NJ) snagged a game-high on the boards with 10 rebounds to go along with 9 points.
Josh Morris (Ewing, NJ) netted a career-high 18 points off the bench, shooting 50.0 percent (6-of-12) from the floor while
Deavion Ellis (North Bergen, NJ) chipped in 13 points to round out the Bears top scorers.
Bloomfield will hit the road for their last contest of the 2021 calendar year when they square-off with Bowie State on December, 30
th. The regional contest is set for a 2:00 pm start in the A.C. Jordan Arena.
