BOWIE, MD – The Bloomfield College men's basketball team headed to A.C. Jordan Arena Thursday afternoon to square off with Bowie State University and suffered a, 97-93 overtime setback. The NCAA East Region loss dropped the Bears to, 2-8 on the year while the Bulldogs improved to 3-8 as the teams closed out play in 2021.
Bloomfield's transfer guard,
Tyrek Battle-Holley (Jersey City, NJ) had a career-day with 37 points on 10-for-18 shooting from the field which included 15-of-16 from the freethrow line but it was not enough as the visiting team trailed for 93.1 percent of the game. Battle-Holley also grabbed 7 boards and dished out 4 assists in 44 total minutes of play.
The home team crafted a, 52-44 advantage by halftime fueled by a 69.0 shooting percentage (20-of-29) in the opening frame that put Bloomfield on their heels. The visitors used a steady dose of Battle-Holley to claw their way back into the game and forced an extra period at the end of regulation on a three-pointer from the Jersey City native with 12 seconds remaining. The Bulldogs outscored the visitors, 13-9 in overtime to seal the non-conference victory.

Josh Morris (Ewing, NJ) also had a career day in a Bears uniform, netting 20 points in 33 minutes of work.
Isaiah Sparks (Ewing, NJ) led Bloomfield on the glass with 8 rebounds and registered 16 points while freshman guard,
Andres Fulgencio (Teaneck, NJ) rounded out the Bloomfield top-scorers with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor.
The Bears will look to regroup when they hit the court on January 3
rd to host Adelphi University. The Panthers will enter The Den for a 6:00 pm tip-off in more East Region action for Bloomfield.
