BLOOMFIELD, NJ– The Bears men's basketball team picked up a solid win Saturday afternoon at The Den over Wilmington University, 79-74. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showdown improved Bloomfield's record to 6-11 on the year and an even, 4-4 in league play. The Wildcats fell to 4-13 for the season and 1-6 in conference match-ups.
Andres Fulgencio (Teaneck, NJ) led the home team in scoring for the third-straight game, dropping 18 points against Wilmington with, 6-for-8 shooting from the field including, 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. The Bears enjoyed 14-for-30 shooting from the floor (46.7 percent) as a team to secure a first half advantage of 43-34 on the scoreboard.
The Wildcats would claw back to within one (59-58) with 8:43 remaining in the 2
ndhalf but the home team weathered the storm and pushed their lead back up to ten (74-64) on a
Tyrek Battle-Holley (Jersey City, NJ) three pointer five minutes later. Bloomfield held off Wilmington down the stretch to secure their consecutive CACC win.
Battle-Holley finished the afternoon with 10 points to go along with team-highs in rebounds (9) and assists (6) while
Tariq McKenith (Newark, NJ) also chipped in 10 points.
Jeremiah Alexander (Trenton, NJ) recorded 12 points on 6-for-7 shooting in 20 minutes of work and
Josh Morris (Ewing, NJ) registered 14 points with a 5-of-8 shooting performance. All five Bloomfield College starters scored in double-figures for the first time this season.
The Bears will continue their three game home-stand Wednesday when Felician University travels to The Den for a CACC thriller. The 7:30 pm tip-off in Bloomfield promises to be action-filled as the home team looks to avenge a December 1
