THE BEARS, TOP SEED IN THE NORTH, ADVANCE TO CACC TOURNAMENT SEMIS WITH 3-0 WIN IN THE DEN

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (November 7, 2022) – All four of the higher seeds were victorious Monday during the quarterfinals of the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Volleyball Championship.

Thomas Jefferson University – the South's No. 1 seed – edged Post University (N#4), 3-2. The 2021 CACC Women's Volleyball champions advance to Saturday's semifinals where they will face North No. 2 seed University of Bridgeport, which defeated S#3 Wilmington University, 3-0. The two teams will square off in Saturday's first semifinal at 1 p.m., at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, Pa.

HFU (S#2) defeated North #3 Dominican, 3-1, on Tuesday. The Tigers will square off against North #1 Bloomfield College, at 3:30 p.m., in the second semis on Saturday, as the Bears took down South #4 Chestnut Hill College, 3-0.

Saturday's two semifinal winners will advance to the CACC Championship Final on Sunday at 12 p.m. The winner of the CACC Championship will not only hoist the trophy and banner, but will also earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament at a site to be determined.

The Bears won by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-19.  Karla Maldonado had 14 digs in the win. Lauryn Hansford dished out 20 assists and Desiree Cruz logged nine kills. Mia Caporellie totaled 20 assists for the Griffins in the setback.

S#2 HOLY FAMILY 3,  N#3 DOMINICAN 1 | Boxscore
Faith Zehnder notched a game-high 25 digs and Shelby Kinzer added 18 for the Tigers in an exciting win in four sets. HFU won the first two sets (25-19 & 25-22), however, Dominican didn't let up with a 25-22 third set win. HFU edged the Chargers in the fourth set, 25-21, to secure the quarterfinal win. Allysa Hartney had a team-high 16 kills for the Tigers while Shelby Kinzer added 15. Elizabeth Perez had a game-high 22 kills for the Chargers, and added 19 digs for a double-double. EmmaLyn LaPier had 10 kills with 15 digs for the Dominican.

N#2 BRIDGEPORT 3, S#3 WILMINGTON 0 | Boxscore
The Purple Knights defeated WilmU in three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-22 & 25-21, advancing to their first semifinals as members of the CACC. Paola Hernandez had a team-high 13 kills with 12 digs, and Jaden Drollinger dished out a game-high 34 assists. Elly Collins logged 18 digs for the Wildcats, while Katie Bushong added 25 assists.

S#1 JEFFERSON 3,  N#4 POST 2 | Boxscore
Morgan Ritchie had 18 kills with 14 digs in the thrilling 3-2 victory over Post. The Eagles took the first set over the reigning CACC Champions 25-19, but Jefferson answered back with a 25-16 win in set two and a 25-14 win in set 3. The Eagles edged the Rams in set four (25-20), but ultimately, the Rams were victorious with a fifth set victory, 15-11. Cameron Johnson had a game-high 37 digs for the Rams and Kristin Guenther also had a game-high stat with 35 assists. Jess Molen added 16 kills with 16 digs. Alyssa Groves had team-high 28 digs for the Eagles and Madelynn Boop notched 10 kills and 20 digs.
